The programme Impact Investing is focused on the investment in projects with a high social component, with three main goals:

  • Employment generation and the creation of innovative companies.
  • Ensure universal access to electricity under the program Electricity for all of Iberdrola.
  • Combine the development of renewable energy projects with the preservation of biodiversity.

Between the main investments of the Impact Investing area, through Iberdrola - PERSEO International Startup programme, Iberdrola participates in NEOTEC External link, opens in new window., the Spanish venture capital programme with the goal of fostering and developing innovative companies in Spain.

Moreover, as regards investment in projects designed to provide access to electricity to everyone in developing countries, as part of the Electricity for All programme, PERSEO has invested in SunFunder External link, opens in new window., a company that has created a funding platform for financial and corporate investors, in which they can participate in a diversified project portfolio to improve access to electricity in developing countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

Regarding the preservation of biodiversity, PERSEO has taken a stake in CO2 Revolution, a startup from Navarre dedicated to reforestation that complements manual planting with a pre-germinated smart seed that is launched from drones, allowing repopulation up to 100 times faster than with traditional means. Iberdrola and CO2 Revolution External link, opens in new window. are already working to preserve ecosystems in areas and regions where the energy company operates, within the framework of its Trees Programme, through which it has committed to promoting the planting of 20 million trees this decade.

 INNVIERTE PROGRAM

In order to strengthen the activity under the Startup program in Spain, an agreement was signed between Iberdrola and Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI) within the framework of the Spanish government's INNVIERTE program External link, opens in new window., with the goal of investing in new technologies in the energy sector.
