Paralympic athletics champion Rayane Soares is Iberdrola's new ambassador in Brazil

Iberdrola, through Neoenergia, its subsidiary in Brazil, has added the paralympic athlete Rayane Soares to its ambassador programme, which aims to empower women athletes, recognise their role as a role models in society and raise awareness in the community of the importance of building a society with equal opportunities for all.

At 28, paralympic runner Rayane Soares has a dream. "I want to step up my training to become the first Brazilian Paralympic athlete to compete in Olympic track and field events," she said.

With Neoenergia’s support, she hopes to improve her training in track and field in her quest to qualify for the Olympic Games. For her, visual impairment from malformation of the eyeballs is not an obstacle to that goal.

In 2024, Neoenergia made major advances related to social inclusion, with an increase of almost 31% in the number of professionals with some type of disability. The company also reached the milestone of 33% of women in management and superintendence positions and 30% of black people in leadership positions.

Rayane Soares is the 8th athlete to join Time Neoenergia, made up of athletes from various sports including: Ana Vitória Magalhães, better known as Tota (cycling); Bruna Kajiya (kitesurfing); Mirelle Leite (track and field); Ana Marcela (open water); Celine Bispo (swimming); Potiguar player Antonia Silva (football); and Bia Souza (judo).
