Iberdrola, the first Spanish company to receive AENOR certification for anti-bribery management systems

  • The company continues to strengthen its commitment to best international compliance practices

AENOR has granted Iberdrola UNE-ISO 37001 standard certification, through which it is verified that the company offers an effective anti-bribery management system, making it the first Spanish company, and one of the first in the world, to obtain such a recognition.

This is the international standard that specifies requirements and provides a guide to establish, implement, maintain, revise and improve the mechanisms to combat bribery practices in companies.

Iberdrola thereby continues to advance its commitment to the very best of international compliance practices reflecting many of its values, including ethical principles, transparency and sound corporate governance.

Among the corporate governance and regulatory compliance policies the group relies upon there is the Crime Prevention Policy and the Anti-Corruption and Fraud Policy, both of which were approved by the company's Board of Directors in December 2010 and 2016, respectively.

The first of these policies aims to transmit to all Iberdrola directors and employees, as well as to the third parties working with the company, a resounding message of total opposition to the commission of any illegal criminal act, as well as the will of the company to combat such and prevent any deterioration of its valuable image and reputation.

Likewise, the second policy, seeks to convey Iberdrola's strong opposition to corruption and fraud in all its forms, and the will of the company to eradicate such from all its activities.

In this context, the UNE-ISO 37001 standard certification granted by AENOR once again shows Iberdrola's commitment to international best practices in the fight against corruption and heralds the company as a leading light in this fight.
