Iberdrola to install new plants to meet growing demand from US data centres

Through its US subsidiary Avangrid, Iberdrola supports organisations that operate data centres, which will be key to driving the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution by feeding them clean energy. It is also actively working to install new renewable plants to meet growing demand. 

According to a US Department of Energy report, data centre load growth has tripled in the last decade and is expected to double or triple again by 2028.

Avangrid currently has 8 facilities supporting data centres, with a capacity of over 1,250 MW, and has 6 more under construction or soon to be built, totalling over 800 MW of additional capacity.
