Iberdrola, the world's leading private utility in terms of R&D&I investment for the third year running
Iberdrola has been recognised for the third consecutive year as the world's leading private utility in terms of investment in innovation and development, according to the European Commission in its report 'The 2024 Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard ', after allocating €384 M to the area in 2023. The European Commission has analysed the 2,000 largest companies in the world and the 800 most important in Europe. The company chaired by Ignacio Galán considers innovation to be a strategic variable for the group and the main tool for guaranteeing the electricity company’s sustainability, efficiency and competitiveness. By incorporating new clean and efficient technological solutions, Iberdrola has become the driving force behind the energy model based on electrification. The company aims to exceed €4 B in investment in Innovation, Development and Research (R&D&I) by 2030. It will double its investment in the area by the end of the decade. These resources are intended to be used primarily for projects related to renewable energy, smart grids, digital transformation and developing tailor-made solutions for our customers. The aim is to accelerate electrification, addressing not only the climate crisis, but also improving energy security, competitiveness and sustainable job creation throughout the value chain. Innovation for electrification The company has spearheaded the development of solutions that drive decarbonisation such as smart grids, with initiatives such as the Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub . Located in Bilbao, the hub has become an international benchmark and will respond to the challenges of the energy transition. The centre acts as a driving force for innovation, combining the company's technological capacity with that of more than 100 collaborating entities and companies: suppliers, universities, technology centres and start-ups. It is also a magnet for attracting strategic suppliers and international talent, strengthening the business ecosystem. In the area of grids, it also continues to incorporate digitalisation and artificial intelligence systems in transmission and distribution infrastructures to further increase security and quality of supply. In renewables, Iberdrola is also committed to pumped hydro technology , the most efficient and mature system for large-scale energy storage. Iberdrola's leading position in energy storage has been strengthened with the commissioning of the Tâmega gigabattery, one of the largest projects in Europe in the last 25 years. The boost given in recent years to offshore wind energy is also of note, of which it already has assets in operation and under advanced construction in various countries such as the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. In addition, the company is paving the way to sites further from the coast by allowing the deployment of wind turbines in larger and deeper offshore areas with greater wind potential. New technologies are being explored in the recycling and recovery of wind turbine blade waste, and in agrovoltaics, which is based on the combination of renewable energies with agricultural and livestock farming practices. The company is also fostering a culture based on creativity. The Innovation and Training Campus , a 180,000 m2 complex with state-of-the-art facilities in San Agustín del Guadalix, Madrid, has become the company's global nexus for knowledge, innovation and employability. With nearly 13,000 people receiving training in its classrooms every year, the campus represents Iberdrola's commitment to technology, R&D&I and collaboration with technology centres as levers to lead the energy transition, the green recovery of the economy and the employment and employability of young people and senior professionals in sectors of the future.

Iberdrola raises its interim dividend by 14.4% and will pay out €0.231 gross per share
Iberdrola's interim dividend for 2024 will amount to € 0.231 gross per share as reported today to the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). Investors opting for the cash dividend will receive the corresponding amount on 31 January. The company once again offers its shareholders three options with this edition of Iberdrola Retribución Flexible: to receive in cash the amount corresponding to the interim dividend - the aforementioned gross €0.231 per share -; to sell their allocation rights on the market; or to obtain new bonus shares in the group free of charge. This interim dividend for the 2024 financial year will be completed with the final dividend that the company expects to pay in July if approved by the company's General Shareholder Meeting. Shareholders who opt for the option to receive new shares must hold 58 free-of-charge allocation rights to receive a new company share. The three options - to receive the interim dividend in cash, to sell the rights on the market or to receive new Iberdrola shares – can be mixed and matched, so the shareholder could choose one of the alternatives or combine them according to his or her preferences. The Iberdrola Retribuciónn Flexible system assigns the option to receive new shares by default, so those shareholders who prefer to receive their remuneration in cash should notify their bank between 10 and 23 January. To implement this new round of the remuneration system, a capital increase with a maximum reference market value of €1,495 M will be carried out. Calendar of the "Iberdrola Retribución Flexible" programme January 2025 The amount of the interim dividend per share and the number of rights required to receive one bonus share are disclosed. 9 January 2025 Last day shares entitled to participate in the dividend are traded. 10 January 2025 The Common Election Period begins for shareholders to decide whether to receive the interim dividend or free shares, and the trading period for free allotment rights begins. 23 January 2025 Last day of the Common Election Period and of the rights trading period. 31 January 2025 Delivery of shares and payment of interim dividend. 5 February 2025 New shares start trading.

Iberdrola builds its sixth photovoltaic installation in the state of Oregon, in the U.S.
Iberdrola, through its U.S. subsidiary Avangrid , and Portland General Electric (PGE) have signed a power purchase agreement ( PPA ) for the 120 MWac Tower Solar project, which the U.S. subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group is building in Morrow County, in collaboration with QTS and Meta. The facility, which will create more than 200 jobs, will become Avangrid's sixth solar facility in Oregon upon completion in 2026, and its 17th power generation project in the state, where the company currently operates 1,600 MW of wind and solar projects. The facility will supply clean, renewable energy to PGE's grid through Green Future Impact (GFI), a voluntary program designed to help large commercial, industrial and municipal customers meet their ambitious sustainability and carbon reduction goals by developing new clean energy facilities in the region. Subscribers to this program sign up for a package of clean energy products and receive Renewable Energy Certificates associated with the green electricity generated by the new facility. As part of this program, leading data center solutions provider QTS is developing a campus to support the operations of Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram, in the region. This hub will be powered by clean energy from Tower Solar, which will contribute to Meta's sustainability and 100% renewable energy goals. You can read the full story in Avangrid's Press Room .
