Our British subsidiary, ScottishPower, is the UK's first 100% renewable energy company, with a focus on wind power, smart grids and the transition to a cleaner, electric future.

ScottishPower is the first integrated energy company in the United Kingdom to produce 100% green electricity, with more than 3,000 MW of installed capacity. Clean energy that comes from two renewable sources, offshore wind and onshore wind, with the largest wind farm in Iberdrola's history to date and one of the largest of its kind in the world: the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm in the North Sea.

Our main lines of business

Since 2018, ScottishPower External link, opens in new window.  has focused its attention on wind energy, smart grids and creating a more sustainable and electric future. It is also committed to accelerating the transition to a cleaner electric transport model, improving air quality and, over time, reducing its customers' bills.

The company divides its activity into three main business lines:

SP Renewables Enlace externo, se abre en ventana nueva. : has 39 onshore and two offshore wind farms in operation with a total installed capacity of 3,000 MW. It is also in the process of building the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm, the second largest in the world with an investment of almost £4 billion, as well as other projects.

SP Energy Networks Enlace externo, se abre en ventana nueva. : supplied energy to more than 3.6 million customers in the regions of Merseyside, Cheshire and North Shropshire (England) and North Wales, as well as central and southern Scotland at the end of the first half of 2024. In this period, the volume of energy distributed was 15,479 GWh. In addition, in August 2024, the acquisition of 88% of Electricity North West (ENW), which distributes electricity to almost five million customers in the northwest of England, was completed.

At Iberdrola, we remain committed to creating sustainable value for all of our stakeholders. To contribute to achieving sustainable development, we carry out our activities in line with the three pillars used internationally to measure the impact and sustainability of corporate work: environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. These are some of Iberdrola España's achievements and initiatives in ESG matters:

External recognitions such as SUSE Inclusive Employer, Promoting Diversity' Award - LargeEmployer, Carer Positive, Disability Confidentand Armed Forces Covenant accreditations. First company to achieve BSI certification for inclusive service delivery.

Iberdrola has planted more than 520,000 trees at the Kilgallioch, Mark Hill, Hare Hill, Black Law, Halsary and Glen App wind farms thanks to the Tree Programme. In addition, a further 1,600 trees, the planting of 35 hectares of grassland and the recovery of 3,500 metres of hedgerows in the restoration of land following the installation of the East Anglia One terrestrial cable.

A diverse and committed team: Avangrid has a workforce of 6,268 employees at the end of 2023.

ScottishPower has Employee Networks, run entirely by employees, which help build the business and also help attract and retain diverse talent and develop an open, supportive and inclusive workplace.

The SPARC (ScottishPower Are Recognising Capabilities) group seeks to support people with some type of disability, neurodivergence or long-term health problems. More than 15% of ScottishPower's employees are part of the existing groups.

With the Returner Programme, Iberdrola seeks to re-incorporate professionals who have taken a career break of two years or more into the STEM industry of science and technology.

The company spends over £5.8 million (€6.8 million) of profits on support initiatives, focusing on vulnerable customers, customers in or at risk of fuel poverty and customers most at risk of being left behind in the energy transition.
