Carlos Agulló is the epitome of film and spirit, of putting the two into a cocktail shaker and pouring out memorable stories. A good example of this is his latest documentary (More than Silver), which is based on the week spent in India by the Spanish rhythmic gymnastics Olympic runners-up.

At the tender age of 18, she upped sticks and went to the United States to combine her Aerospace Engineering degree with a professional sporting career. Now she is the first female Spanish footballer to be selected for the soccer DRAFT in the United States, allowing her to play in the highest category whilst taking part in her second World Cup with the Spanish team.

Iberdrola Group is firmly and decisively committed to gender equality. Some great examples of this are the Women with Energy forum run by Iberdrola Mexico to promote the leadership and talent of women in the company, and the story of Selene Jerezano, the first woman to hold the position of turbines supervisor.

They were pioneers and their discoveries and inventions made history. However, their work has often been brushed aside and even vetoed by their peers. However, great women like Marie Curie, Virginia Apgar and Gertrude B. Ellion succeeded in being recognised in their respective fields of study. But they are not the only women who have changed the world.

Social norms, prejudices and expectations limit women's interests and determine their life choices from the earliest stages. According to UNESCO, only 35% of women choose science-related degrees. Is there a solution? For many experts, the answer lies in promoting STEM education.

To mark International Women's Day on 8 March, women and men — employees of Iberdrola group, professionals and some great athletes — have joined forces to share their thoughts about the role of women in today's society and the female role models who have made a mark on their lives.
