The need to fight climate change and reduce dependence on fossil fuels through the electrification of the economy make renewable energy one of the most attractive sectors in the job market.
Already at COP 28 in Dubai, an agreement was reached to boost the energy transition, an express call was made to abandon fossil fuels and the objective was set for 2030 to triple renewable capacity and double energy efficiency improvements. Something that our chairman Ignacio Galán described as "a crucial moment in the fight against the climate crisis".
It is also an industry in constant growth and with a high component of technological innovation, so it offers a wide variety of jobs ranging from research and development to the installation and maintenance of energy systems. At Iberdrola, we are working to achieve an electric, healthy, and accessible energy model, and to this end we have a firm investment strategy, through our Strategic Plan, focused on the electrification of the economy, on renewable technologies with greater value, and on increasing storage capacity.
With regard to renewables, we plan to allocate 15.5 billion euros, thanks to which we will have 3,000 MW of new offshore wind power in operation from 2027, reaching 5,000 MW, and we plan to start up an additional 6,000 MW of onshore wind and solar power.
