HPC LLEIDA Project
High power public charging hub in Lleida
The HPC LLEIDA project is developing a charging system for light electric vehicles for interurban transport in Lleida. An initiative funded by the European Union (NextGenerationEU), it falls under the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, within the second call of the MOVES Singulares II programme managed by IDAE.

At Iberdrola, we want to lead the transition towards the electrification of transport, in line with the major commitment that the European Union is also making. In the new mobility ecosystem, in which partnerships between companies from different sectors is vital, at Iberdrola we continue to act as facilitators of electric mobility.
We will take on the massive deployment of fast (50 kW), super-fast (150 kW) and ultra-fast (350 kW) charging points on the main corridors and high-capacity roads in Spain. To provide a charging service adapted to all users, we need to continue developing innovative charging infrastructure.
The HPC LLEIDA project’s objective
The Iberdrola-led HPC LLEIDA project aims to develop a charging hub equipped with a high-power charging infrastructure hybridised with a battery system.
The project aims to develop an infrastructure that provides an innovative and modular charging system for light electric vehicles for light interurban transport in the province of Lleida.
For this project, Iberdrola will act as the integrator and optimiser of pioneering opportunity charging technologies, working with a leading technology supplier in the industry: Power Electronics.
The station will be composed of:
-
High-power charging infrastructure: fast charging points to meet the charging needs of electric vehicle users (1 x 120kW, 2 x 60kW).
-
Storage: containerised system composed of batteries, fully modular and scalable, which considerably increases the charging infrastructure’s manageability and flexibility (2 x 70 kWh).
-
Comprehensive energy management system: comprehensive management of the energy systems and optimisation of the power demanded. The operation control and optimisation system is also developed.
Planned investment: €1,972,582.80
Amount of aid granted: €778,057.36
Iberdrola's public charging infrastructures
As part of our objective of promoting sustainable mobility, we promote various projects focused on reducing emissions and driving transport’s electrification. We offer domestic and business solutions in countries like the United Kingdom, Portugal and Australia. But our progress in Spain stands above the rest, where we already have more than 8,000 public charging points, after putting into operation more than 25% of the points installed during 2024 in Spain. In addition, we have signed an partnership with BP Pulse, a subsidiary of the British company BP, to create the most extensive high-speed public charging network on the Iberian Peninsula, with which we plan to deploy 5,000 ultra-fast charging points by 2025 and 11,700 by 2030.
