The José María de Oriol power plant, with more than 50 years of history, is a hydroelectric facility located in the municipality of Alcántara, in Cáceres. With a total installed capacity of over 900 MW, the plant is one of the cornerstones of Iberdrola's renewable energy production in Extremadura, in southwest Spain.

The new transmission line between Quebec and Maine provides 1,200 megawatts (MW) of renewable hydroelectric power to the New England power grid in Lewiston, Maine, sufficient to meet the demand of 1.2 million homes. In operation since January 2026, NECEC is New England's largest renewable energy source, saving customers $190 million per year.

This project, which had required an investment of €1,200 million, enables the transmission of renewable energy from Scotland to homes and businesses located in Wales and England by laying 850 km of high-voltage cable, 770 of which run under the sea.
As a result of the STAR Project (Remote Network Management and Automation System), with an investment of €2 billion, more than 11.4 million intelligent meters have been installed and provide remote management and automation capabilities to more than 90,000 transformation centres.
